What is clicker training?
No dog is ever too young or too old to learn! Just like us, learning is a lifelong journey for our canine companions and they love the mental and physical workout that learning new things provides.
We work very hard to keep our prices as reasonable as possible, because we know that these are tough economic times. Let's face it, we're all finding it a bit more difficult to find any extra money. So, we keep our prices low, so you can afford to get the help you need to make sure your dog will be the valued family member you want.
- No stress! You and your dog are in a comfortable, familar environment where you and Rover are able to communicate more effectively.
- You and your dog will be able to work at your own pace. With personalized attention, you both learn faster.
- You are not committed to a training session every week at the same time. You can sign up for single sessions or weekly/bi-weekly sessions at your convenience. Plan around your schedule and your dog's performance.
- Many behaviors such as jumping on guests or learning to kennel up on command are things group classes cannot teach as well as personalized training right at the source.
- If your dog does not do well around strangers or other dogs, in home sessions can help you and your dog without the stress of the public. We can slowly add distractions to your sessions when you and him are ready.
Socializing your pup/dog is a lot more than taking him to group training. To have a confident, friendly canine friend, you need to introduce and familiarize him to new experiences - including people, places, objects, other animals - in ways that help the he will learn how to respond to and interact with these experiences appropriately and without fear or stress. It's your job to protect the dog from situations that frighten him. Will your dog be to handle a group of strange dogs and people?
We'd prefer to work with you and your dog before problems develop, so that you can avoid the difficulties associated with things like fearfulness, aggression, uncontrollable barking, and the like. But if your dog is already fearful or aggressive, we can help you manage him, and help him learn new, better ways to deal with his world.
The dictionary's definition of a Coach is "to teach and supervise". And that is just what we do. We don't train you and your dog. We do more. We watch, listen, assist, teach, and motivate you and your canine friend. And yes, we do reward you both! So like your kid's soccor coach, we are going to give you "all" we have to make sure your canine friend is successful. Yup, Life Coach for you and your dog!
Our Training Tools are not collars or leashes that make your dog do behaviors. Our Tools are the creativity of games and motivation so our dogs want to do behaviors because it is so much fun and rewarding. The only physical tools we use is a flat buckle collar or head halter, a 6 ft leash and a retractable leash and clicker.
Clicker training uses a distinct and consistent signal to mark a diesired behavior in real time and then follows that signal with a motivating reward. Because our dogs understand precisely which action earned the click and their reward, they learn new behaviors quickly, easlily and enthusiastically. Why not just use your voice? The clicker provides a consistent, non emotional marker so your dog always receives the same information.
Will I have to use the clicker forever?
No, the clicker is used to teach/learn new behaviors. Once the behavior is learned the clicker does not have to be used anymore although praise and a reward will always be appreciated.
