Philosophy

At Pawsitive we believe, as you do too, that having a well mannered dog makes all the difference in the world. Unfortunately, they are not born with the behaviors that are acceptable to us humans. Dogs will be dogs but some of those "dog" antics can be quite frustrating and sometimes dangerous to the family. Yes, we all want a canine that is a good citizen. It takes a strong, reliable foundation and training tools to build a lifetime of fun with each other and a beloved part of your family.

Training your canine friend is easy when you understand him and he understands what you want from him. Our goal is to give you the tools to build communication and a relationship built on mutual respect and trust between you and your dog. Your canine friend can learn how to listen and follow directions using tools that does not rely on physical strengh or intimidation. Jerking the leash, yelling commands, or pushing his body only breaks down communication and makes training very frustrating. And besides, how can your canine friend trust you when he is afraid of a correction? Our reward based training provides motivation that will get faster, better results. We call it Canine Coaching. By becoming your dog's coach, you will learn how to motivate him to good behavior, repeat the behavior in all situations, and most of all, have fun doing it.

Canine Coaching does involve some Training Tools. We will help you understand and become skillful with these Training Tools. We will coach you and your canine friend in small, easy steps in order to be able to teach him in a relatively short amount of time and see results fast. As it is true that no two people are alike, it holds true for dogs too. Our Training Tools are easy to adapt to fit individuals and situations as needed.

Our group training sessions are small, no more than 8 dogs/people, so we can always give everyone some individual attention. Part of our Training Tools are handouts at the end of each session so you are able to review the lesson, practice, and answer any questions on the behaviors learned. It is important to us that training is simple for you to understand and fun for the both of you.

We attend training and behavioral seminars throughout the year to be the best informed K9 Coach for you and your dog.
